For my sermon this week, I’ll be preaching on the parable of the Wheat and the Weeds from Matthew 13. At first glance, this parable feels heavy; filled with judgment, as the angels sort wheat from weeds at the end. But if we take a closer look at the Master in the parable, we can see the ways that this parable is filled with good news. Jesus gives us freedom to love, rather than render judgment on others. Jesus invites us to examine our own hearts before looking at others, and ultimately, to trust that God is the ultimate arbiter of grace and truth.
