Series: NEW YEAR, SAME PROMISES
A new year. We begin with high hopes, with resolutions to change, with new expectations of our lives. But in spite of good intentions, most things stay the same. This may be cause for disappointment, but there is some consistency we can celebrate. God’s promises do not change with the calendar or the latest pop trends. We want to begin this new year appreciating God’s steadfast loving kindness and God’s unbreakable promises.
Sermon: ‘God’s promise of freedom’
Scripture: Deuteronomy 30.11-20
Liminal is from the Latin word ‘limen’, which means threshold. A liminal space is the time between ‘what was’ and ‘next.’ It is a place of transition, a time of waiting and not knowing the future. Richard Rohr describes this space as, “where we are betwixt and between the familiar and the completely unknown. There alone is our old world left behind, while we are not yet sure of the new existence. That’s a good space where genuine newness can begin.”
Israel is at the Jordan after forty years of wilderness wandering. How will they live in freedom in the Land of Promise? What choices must they make for LIFE?
All are welcome to worship with us online or in-person @ 10:00 am.
