Sermon ‘Living Bricks’
1 Peter addresses readers who must decide how to live as faithful Christians in the midst of a suspicious and hostile society. The author responds not by immediately giving a list of ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ but by presenting on a grand scale, a vision of the readers’ new identity ‘in Christ,’ and the basic orientation it calls for: hope, holiness, love, and nourishment in the divine word that sustains Christian existence. Who you are is basic to what you are to do.
